Objectives: Diabetic retinopathy, is the most frequent cause of new cases of blindness among adults aged 2074 years in developed countries. In 15 of the 23 studies in developing countries and in ethnic minority groups within developed countries, the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy was over 35%.
